Thank you for sharing this.
Typically I have something I want to post about so I give it a quick title, the write the post, then go back to come up with an appropriate title. The style of my posts usually change while I'm writing them since I'm never 100% sure with the direction I want to take with posts. After I get the post's tone finished I try to find a matching title.
Also my target audience for the post really matters. If I know I plan to submit the post to social media I will typically use the common titles for it, such as a number at the beginning.
For that problogger post I knew that I would be competing for attention next to hundreds of other titles all in a list form. And that most of those titles will try to use the number at the beginning, so I decided to use a title with some unique elements to make it stand out amongst the crowd. I wanted to first get people's attention by using the abbreviated Attn:, then hopefully get them wondering what questions I was asking for crazy people only.
I also through 'quick' in there at the last minute hoping people by click if they knew the questions were easy to read and wouldn't take much of their time.
Thanks again.
I also use the following Google header "fight" to see which of my header ideas will receive the highest searches.
It's quite fun to use actually and you can find it here. http://www.googlefight.com/
