Regarding Intensedebate, well I guess its their strategy to make you signup. Well, I can only recommend you to do so. It's one wonderful extension to a blog and also offers ease to the blogger

It sucks that your intensedebate thing can not remember Name/email address etc for someone who has commented already, and is coming again on your page in same browser.
