This is very TRUE. Our hosting service shows the biggest growth once we dropped our monthly fee from $10 to $8.

Indeed, a domain makes lot of difference in SEO. That's a nice observation. And pretty unfortunate, that we won't be able to find that out.

i dont know how would a domain make a difference.. apart from the SEO part .because i have seen personally many famous blogs that still are using .blogspot and .wordpress.
Though even i m using a personal domain..

Indeed it completely depends on the amount of traffic. So it means that a pretty good amount of bloggers are those who are experienced and are readers of blog design studio.

It depends on what a person is using. Most newbies would use less then $10, while bigger bloggers use dedicated servers.

That I think is the reason why most people are hooked in blogging and consider it as their part time job and others are making it a full time job.
